Michael J. Cohen, ESQ.

Michael J. Cohen is a civil trial attorney and wrongful death lawyer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida who focuses his practice in the areas of personal injuries, wrongful death, products liability, medical malpractice, healthcare law, securities litigation, broker misconduct, construction disputes, commercial and corporate litigation, real estate, employment, administrative issues and all other matters requiring the intervention of the court system.

Mr. Cohen served as the managing member of Goldstein & Cohen, P.A. until founding Cohen & Greenberg, LLC. in January 2004, where he served as a managing member of the firm. In January 2012, Mr. Cohen founded the Cohen Legal Group, which is dedicated to assisting individuals, businesses and healthcare providers in any claims involving personal injuries, products liability, medical malpractice and all other insurance disputes.

A seasoned litigator, Mr. Cohen has successfully litigated, arbitrated and tried cases in the State and Federal Courts throughout the State of Florida as well as in front of arbitration panels associated with the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers. Mr. Cohen is also a skilled negotiator, who has been particularly successful in resolving disputes without costly and time-consuming litigation.

Education & Associations

Mr. Cohen graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in finance and a minor in economics. He spent two years as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith before attending law school at the University of Miami. He began practicing law upon graduating in 1998. Mr. Cohen has been a member of the Florida Bar since October 1998 and is presently a member of the Florida Bar, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and the Dade County and American Bar Associations. He is also active in his community, volunteering as a youth football, basketball, and baseball coach with the YMCA, a soccer coach with AYSO, and serves as an board member of Temple B’Nai Aviv and the Weston Bar Association.

Paola focuses her practice in business, healthcare and insurance law. She counsels small and medium-size businesses in crafting legal solutions that cover all aspects of their enterprises.  From healthcare providers navigating federal and state regulations to the protection of intellectual property and branding, Paola helps business owners with their legal needs so they can focus on making their business prosper.  

Her practice includes consulting on business formation, corporate structuring and governance, branding, trademark and copyright registration, drafting licensing agreements, ecommerce and telemedicine, social media compliance as well as resolving domain name disputes through the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy proceedings. Paola’s practice encompasses strong representation in dispute resolutions and litigation in areas such as unfair competition, business entities dissolutions, enforcement of contracts and intellectual property rights enforcement.  

Paola offers legal services tailored to supporting and advocating for individuals and businesses going through the process of claiming payments from insurance companies.  From first party property casualty claims to personal injury cases and equitable distribution of settlement payments, Paola advocates on behalf of her clients to make sure they are fairly compensated and they can move on with their lives after a loss.   

She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Education & Associations

Paola started her career working in Colombian Museums where she studied art conservation and restoration in the prestigious Universidad Externado de Colombia. She moved to the United States and earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Nova Southeastern University, where she also obtained her Juris Doctorate.  While attending law school Paola worked as a teaching assistant and completed an internship with a boutique intellectual property law firm focusing on trademark and patent law.
